Cold wave disrupts normal life in State

PNS

Continuous dipping of mercury has made life difficult for the people of the State. The entire Jharkhand including the State Capital is witnessing severe cold at this time and the mercury is dipping steadily.

The icy winds have made it difficult to come out of the house in the morning and evening. It is advisable to stay at home from four in the morning till eight in the morning. Health department has advised people to go out only if absolutely necessary and that too in warm clothes.

The minimum temperature in Ranchi and Daltonganj was recorded at 5.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. However, in some parts of the Capital city it was less than 2 degrees Celsius.

Dy Director, Ranchi Centre of Indian Meteorological Department, Abhishek Anand informed that cold has entered completely in Jharkhand. It has increased due to the icy winds coming from North India. “The temperature of other districts including Ranchi is continuously falling. This series will continue in the coming days. That means it is going to be colder now,” he added.

Anand forecast that from next two to three days from today will remain similar and there is no relief in the coming days in near future. “Not only this, the problem of fog and haze will increase in many areas of Jharkhand as soon as the cold increases. During this time it can be dangerous to leave the house without warm clothes. Children need to be especially careful,” he added.

He further said that due to the active Western Disturbance in the Himalayan region, the outbreak of cold has increased in the entire North and East India. “The temperature has dropped by more than three degrees. There is a possibility of light rain in many districts of the State,” he added.

“Due to the entry of cold winds coming from the North direction, the cold has increased further. Its effect is being seen in other areas of the state including the State Capital. The mercury has gone down considerably in districts like Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Daltonganj, Godda and others. In the early winter, due to the rise of cyclonic storm 'Jawad' in the Bay of Bengal, most parts of Jharkhand had become overcast. In such a situation, the temperature did not go down much. But as the clouds removed from the sky and the weather became clear, the effect of cold increased in the State,” said Anand.

Anand further said that In Jharkhand, including Ranchi, there will be fog and mist in the morning on Monday. “At the same time, the sky will be clear during the day. People can enjoy the sunshine and it will be plentiful. There is no chance of cloud cover. However, as the night progresses, the temperature is likely to drop steadily,” he added.
