A MoU was signed between CIMFR and Royal Society of Chemistry here on Friday with an aim to develop scientific temper among students.
The CIMFR also organised a hands-on training-cum-demonstration of Coin Battery Experiment under Jigyasa Program for the students of Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalaya, Bhowra, Dhanbad on this occasion .
In a coin battery experiment electrolyte prepared from vinegar spiked H2SO4 was used. Coin shaped cardboards were soaked in the electrolytes and then stacked in the alternating arrangement of coin, electrolytes-soaked cardboard and aluminum foil. The voltage generated was checked by a voltmeter and when a particular voltage was attained, a LED was connected that glowed.
The students performed the experiments with great eagerness and enthusiasm, said Dilip Kumbhakar, Chief Scientist and Head HRD who provided valuable inputs and suggestions to make this event successful. The program was conducted under his guidance.
Dr. Pallabi Das, Sr. Scientist, and Jigyasa Nodal explained to the students about the background and significance of the experiment.
Padma Bhushan awardee and Member, NITI Aayog Dr. V. K Saraswat and Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, DG, CSIR also addressed the participating students online mode. About 46 students and six teachers of the school participated in the program.
