One of the most backward districts of Jharkhand Chatra is going to get a gift in form of a central school soon. If things go as planned the school will start functioning from the next session itself.

The construction work of the school building in Tandwa block of Chatra district is going on at war level. The Government has sanctioned Rs15 crore for the establishment of central school in Chatra district while the district administration is spending Rs4.5 crores for building construction.

CCls Piparwar coal project is constructing this building at a site where in the nearby places more than 10,000 staff of different departments including CCl and defence reside. As per the norms a central school can be opened only at a place where at least 10,000 central Government employees are posted. This area has several collieries of CCl. Tandwa too has many central Government officials residing due to the proposed NTPC power project.

Recently, a team led by probationer IAS Shasi Ranjan visited the site and took a close look of the construction work. Partially complete, the construction work of some 10 rooms is in full swing and it can be hoped that they will too be complete by month’s end.

The team members met the officials of Piparwar coal project along with district education officer of Chatraand circle officer of Tandwa. During this meeting the officials of CCl assured the team members that construction and will be completed within the given time frame. Satisfied team members said that they will soon file their report along with the performa given to them and it will go to regional office of central schools through Deputy Commissioner Chatra.
