BJP seeks expanded railway services in Bastar

Staff Reporter

A delegation of Chhattisgarh BJP leaders called on Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav at Koraput in Odisha on Saturday and sought expansion of railway lines as well as facilities in Bastar division. In a representation to the Minister, they said that Bastar division is bigger in size than states like Kerala. It falls under the Central scheme of aspirational areas. There are several ongoing projects and planned projects for laying railway lines. The former MPs and MLAs pointed out that work on the 140-km Jagdalpur-Rowghat rail line has come to a standstill.  Also, due to Covid-19, the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Night Express, the Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleswari Express and the Durg-Jagdalpur Express services were halted. They should be resumed, the delegation said. The delegation also raised demands to expedite the already proposed railway lines connecting other parts of Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states.
