Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda has alleged that the JMM, frustrated with the high turnout of the voters demonstrating rising popularity of the BJP in the State, was trying to spread terror among the innocent people of Santhal Pargana so that they do not come out for voting.
Munda referring to the incidents, which took place in Dumka on Thursday night, demanded the Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls after taking immediate cognizance of the matter. Munda, along with BJP Jharkhand in-charge Trivendra Singh Rawat and State party president Ravindra Rai, spoke to mediapersons here after meeting Chief Electoral Officer PK Jajoria on Friday.
“Chief Minister Hemant Soren is misusing his position for personal benefits and trying to spread terror in Santhal Pargana so that voters do not come out on the polling day,” alleged Munda. He also alleged that he was getting reports from various parts of the region that money power was largely being used in order to influence the voters along with the misuse of walky-talky by the Chief Minister and his people in Santhal Pargana.
State BJP chief Ravindra Rai on the other hand, condemning the Dumka incident, alleged that Soren has lost his mind, and was creating such nuisance to save his political ground in Santhal Pargana. “The Election Commission must keep a close eye on the movements of the Chief Minister and deployment of CRPF at all the polling booths in the region must be ensured during the polling,” said Rai.
