The district administration has announced a large-scale emergency preparedness mock drill scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Bokaro and Gomia. Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav confirmed that the simulation will take place at the Bokaro Steel Plant area and the IEL Plant area in Gomia, aligning with a nationwide initiative covering 244 districts.
The drill aims to assess public and institutional readiness in the face of hypothetical emergencies, including missile or aerial attacks. Between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, citizens can expect air raid sirens, power blackout simulations, evacuation exercises, and emergency service deployments.
"This is not a real emergency. The public is requested to remain calm and indoors—whether at home or at work—during the exercise," said the Deputy Commissioner. The mock scenarios are designed to train citizens and reduce panic through informed action and coordination.
The schedule includes control room activation, communication drills with the Indian Air Force, evacuation and rescue operations, triage setups, and public awareness activities such as CPR demonstrations and bunker use. A drone-based evaluation of blackout effectiveness is also planned.
Civil Defence, Home Guards, NCC, NSS, NYKS volunteers, and students from various institutions will actively participate, following extensive pre-drill training sessions. The administration urges public cooperation to ensure the drill’s success in building a more resilient response system.
