PNS

Four can bombs called technically improvised explosive devices were discovered by the security forces between Masurya and  Chak pickets under Manatu police station late  on Thursday. SP Palamau Sanjeev Kumar said the four can bombs were kept hidden about 10  to 15 meters away from the road that stretches between Masurya and Chak pickets.

About the weight of the can bombs, the SP said these booby traps are viewed more for their destruction than for weight.

Sources said a normal can bomb can have two kilograms of deadly powder in it. The SP said a team of bomb disposable squad of Jharkhand Jaguar reached the site and neutralised the can bombs on Friday morning. The SP said these cans are used for carrying milk but the Maoists put it to sinister design.

Arun Kumar Singh additional superintendent of police operations said some cattle grazers first saw these cans and since people of the areas are well acquainted with what could be in these cans it took them no time to understand these cans were all death trap.

Singh said security forces cordoned off the can bomb site.

Kumar said the police and the CRPF are carrying out search operations against the extremists and there will be no scaling down of our drive against the extremists.
