A large number of Bhudhanbhat villagers staged protest against the delay in construction of a bridge and handed over a memorandum to Collector Mukesh Kumar Bansal.

In the memorandum, the villagers alleged that long back a tender was invited for the construction of a bridge connecting Chuikhadan and Udaypur road, about 2.5 kilometres from the headquarters, but till date no work has been started. The villagers said that when they queried about the delay in starting the work, the officials replied that the contractor had swindled money and the department does not have extra money, so no bridge would be constructed. The officials said that the road would only be repaired.

The villagers said that during the monsoon season, the road gets flooded and people have to face problem in commuting. One of the villagers said that bridges were to be constructed at four places and construction of three bridges has been completed, but when the contractor was constructing the bridge near Chuikhadan road, the officials started delaying the work.

After going through the complaint, Collector Bansal assured them that construction of the bridge would be completed soon and added that strict action would be taken against the contractor for delaying the work.
