With the recovery of two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), security personnel claimed to have averted an untoward incident in insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Sunday.
While undertaking de-mining exercise, a joint squad of Border Security Force (BSF) and District Force (DF) unearthed two IEDs, one weighing around 10 kg from limits of Bande police station while other of 5 kg from Siksod police station, said Kanker Superintendent of Police (SP) Jitendra Singh Meena.
Based on inputs received about IEDs planted by rebels, security personnel launched a demining operation in the region following which two IEDs were unearthed, he said.
With the help of experts from Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), the recovered IEDs were destroyed at restive areas, Meena said.
Security personnel are undertaking intense demining exercises in restive areas falling in limits of different police stations so that the Naxal plan of targetting security personnel and their vehicles engaged in anti-Naxal exercise could be foiled, he said.
