A man was shot dead by suspected Naxals in Bhanupratappur region of insurgency hit Kanker district.
The daughter of killed man had worked with Naxals and few months back she had laid down arms, Superintendent of Police (SP), RN Dash informed on Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Aayturam (50), resident of Tamoda village of Kacche police outpost in Bhanupratappur.On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, some armed Naxals stormed into Aayturam’s house, the SP said.
The rebels then took Aayturam on gun point and moved out of the village. later on, his body was found with bullets injuries, Dash said.Aayturam’s murder seems to be an act of vengeance. His daughter was member of Naxal group active in Rajnandgaon region. However after working with Naxals she realized her mistake and had surrendered before police in Rajnandgaon about five months back, he informed. It seems Naxals were upset with the act and Aayturam’s murder was venting of anger by them due to his daughter’s surrender, the SP said.
