Now caste certificates will be issued within a month, according to the process prescribed by the State Government. Earlier, the period for issuing the certificate was six months.
As per the declaration made by the CM Raman Singh and the bill passed in the Vidhan Sabha, the State Government, after simplifying the procedure for issuing caste certificates, has issued its main points.
In the cabinet meeting chaired by the CM on March 9 last, decision had been taken to simplify the process of issuing caste certificates to the applicants belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backward classes. After the bill passed in the budget session of the Assembly, the Chhattisgarh scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backward class (social situation certification rules) Act 2013 has been prepared.
According to an official press statement issued here on Wednesday, the Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department has informed all the district collectors of the state about the main points of simplified procedure and asked them to make wide publicity of it.
As per the letter issued to the collectors, applicants can apply for the caste certificate in the prescribed application form enclosed with affidavit and other records to the competent officer. Application could be sent by post through Choice Centres. On receiving the application the applicant would be given the receipt compulsorily.
Caste certificates issued through the schools to the students studying in class 9 to 12 would be investigated by random scheme. This service would be brought under the Chhattisgarh Public Service Guarantee Act soon. The officer, who had issued temporary caste certificate, will forward the application form for permanent caste certificate to the competent officer.
The caste certificates of 10 per cent candidates, which have been issued in the district, would be selected through random scheme and be certified. If the caste certificate of the successful candidates selected for Government job or admission in the educational institutions would be found suspicious or any complaints was received about it and the employer or institutional head is suspicious about the certificate, the certificate would be attested.
On inquiry, the caste certificate was found wrong or fraud, action would be taken about the holder of the certificate, according to the provisions of the Act.
