Minimum Support Price regime to continue: BJP

Staff Reporter

The Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime will continue and in future it will be further hiked, Chhattisgarh BJP President Vishnudeo Sai said on Monday.

The contract farming will be an agreement between the farmer and purchaser, and land will remain with the farmers, he said.

Addressing the media virtually, Sai was allying the fears created by the opposition parties on The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farmer Services Bill, 2020 passed by Parliament.

He urged the farmers not to fall in the trap of the Congress party, which he said had not helped the farming community for the last 60 years.

The BJP leader pointed out that the same tactic was adopted by Congress on the Citizen (Amendment) Act (CAA) and earlier during the Rafale deal.

Sai said: “Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel spoke about approaching the court against the bill. We are ready to reply in court. Like in Rafale, they will face the same experience.”
