People can now pay stamp duty for sworn affidavits, agreement of tenancy, mortgage deeds, power of attorney and other instruments through the e-stamping facility. The facility was launched in Koriya district by the District Collector S. Prakash at Zila Sahkari Kendriya Bank on Thursday.

The Collector also provided the first e-stamp to Shiv Kumar, Sohan Singh and Fulaso Bai on the occasion.

He congratulated the bank officers for starting the new facility and said that this will expedite the development of the district.

He said that people used to purchase the stamp papers from vendors for different works and had to pay extra to the vendors. “With introduction of e-stamp system, people will get single stamp paper for any amount. This will facilitate the vendor as well as the customer,” said the Collector.

Apart from this, people who earlier had to pay cash to the vendors can now pay through draft or cheque to get the e-stamp. The e-stamp will be provided to the customers through a unique identification number provided to them on payment of amount in the bank. A single stamp paper will be issued for any amount, he said. “This is a very easy and safe system and the unique identification number will check forgery. The e-stamping facility will soon be extended to all banks of the district,” Prakash said. CEO of Zila Sahkari Kendriya Bank Vijay Singh Bisen, Area Manager of Stock Holdings Corporation of India (SHIl) Devendra Patle, Nodal Officer of the Bank IS Namdeo, Branch Manager UK Dwivedi and a number of stamp vendors, customers and bank officers were present on the occasion.

The e-stamp system will reduce the burden on the government in printing and transporting paper stamps of different denominations. The e-stamping will help in maintaining transparency in payment of registration fee in property transactions.
