The Army on Monday foiled a major infiltration bid by killing three terrorists along the loC in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district. This was the fourth infiltration bid thwarted by the Army in Nowgam sector in two months.
Brigadier Neeraj Kumar Sonie told reporters that the alert troops detected the infiltrators while they attempted to sneak into this side of the loC taking advantage of thick forest cover.
He said on being challenged, the infiltrators resorted to firing triggering a fierce encounter that resulted into killing of three terrorists.
“The Army conducted the operation in thick forest for 18 hours,” said Brig Sonie, adding a large cache of arms and warlike stores was recovered from the slain terrorists.
“This is the fourth infiltration bid successfully foiled by the army along the loC in the Nowgam sector in last two months,” Brig Sonie said.
