UP Govt using Power to grab to posts: Pathak

PNS

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party said that ministers in the Akhilesh Yadav Government were using their official status to grab posts of Zila Panchayat chiefs to influence the 2017 Assembly polls.

“Democracy is being decimated in UP. Senior ministers of the Akhilesh Yadav government are camping in district headquarters to ensure victory of their chosen-few in the Zila Panchayat polls,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in lucknow on Monday.

He said that the ruling party is facing intra-party rebellion over the selection of candidates and are in no position to rein in their ministers. “In some places, ministers have raised the banner of revolt against the party leadership because tickets to their kin were denied in the last minute,” said the BJP spokesman.

“The interesting part is that all this drama is when Samajwadi Party has declared that it will not officially field candidates in the Zila Panchayat polls,” he said and added earlier the SP declared that it will not field candidates in the elections but later changed its decision.

“Why is so desperation in the Samajwadi Party IJ Why has the CM turned a Nelson’s eye to the ongoing machination by the ministers IJ  Why are district officials acting as party’s workers and obeying diktats of these ministers IJ,” asked Pathak. “This is being done with an eye on the 2017 polls. The party wants to grab Zila Panchayat seats so that it can have its chin  up when the state goes to polls,” he said.

He said the need of the hour is to have a free and fair polls in the state and this is possible only if the ministers are not allowed to camp in their native districts.
