Uttar Pradesh Assembly passed a unanimous resolution on Tuesday, condemning the terror attack on Amaranth yatra pilgrims. The House passed the resolution after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed members about the incident, condemned the attack and asked members to fight against terrorism unitedly. “We all condemn the attack on Amaranth pilgrims. The fight against terrorism is not of any particular state or government. It’s the collective battle to be fought by the whole nation and every citizen should contribute for eliminating the menace of terror from the country so that every citizen felt safe and secure,’’ the Chief Minister said. The members condemned the attack as cowardly. Terming  the terror strike on Amaranth pilgrims as an act of cowardice,  Yogi Adityanath said, “Instead of giving political angle and twist to the terror incident, all should condemn the incident in the strongest possible terms.’’ The Chief Minister informed that soon after the incident on Monday evening, an emergency meeting of Home and UP Police office was held and an alert was sounded across the state in view of the ‘Kanwar Yatra’.  Yogi said that millions of pilgrims conduct Yatra to Haridwar and other important centers of pilgrimage during the month of ‘Shravan’ (sawan) and the terrorists could strike at crowded places. “Officers have been asked to remain alert so that no unscrupulous element could take benefit and vitiate the atmosphere. I have myself spoken to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for the security of Kanwar yatra,” he said. Yogi  informed, “The DGP and Principal Secretary Home have been asked to ensure that there was no untoward incident and also ensure that feelings of no one were hurt under any circumstance.’’ On use of loudspeakers by ‘Kanwariyas’, the CM clarified that its use has been allowed between 6 am to 10 pm but only after permission from respective district magistrates. Kanwariyas have been asked to keep their identity cards with them. To ensure that the month-long yatra passed off peacefully, the Chief Minister has already asked devotees not to play ‘vulgar’ movie songs.
