Congress leader Faqir Siddique, who recently resigned from the party opposing the decision of Rahul Gandhi to appoint city party district joined the ruling Samajwadi Party here on Sunday.
Faqir took the membership of the party in the presene of SP spokesperson and state minister Rajendra Chaudhury, former MP Bhagwati Singh and SP leader SRS Yadav.
Interestingly Fakir, joined the Congress leaving the SP in 2011 just before the assembly elections. later he contested the assembly polls on Congress ticket from lucknow (Central) seat but lost.
Chaudhury said that it was a home coming for the leader who had been with the party for more than a decade and was even the SP lucknow city president for several years last month Faqir had resigned from the Congress after his name was rejected by Rahul Gandhi for the post of lucknow city president of the party.
On Saturday 1,186 bikes were checked, 136 challaned and 25 impounded. “Despite our security drill, some people are still riding bikes dangerously on roads,” added a senior police official.
