CM blames PM for power shortage

Reiterating his government’s committment towards ensuring 22- hour power supply to urban areas and 16-hour supply to rural areas by October 2016, the CM targeted PM Narendra Modi accusing him for the power shortage in UP.

The CM was in Aligarh on Tuesday to lay the foundation stone of the super critical 660 MW new coal-based thermal power unit in Harduaganj.

“What happened to the lofty promises for uninterrupted 24-hour power supply made during the 2014 lok Sabha polls IJ They (the BJP) made tall promises but did nothing to mitigate the power crisis. Whatever is being done for improving power supply is being done by the SP government. The Centre is not even giving us our due share of power from the Central sector power plants. The Centre has also not cleared the proposal for coal linkages for thermal power plants to be set up in UP,” charged the CM at the foundation laying function.

Yadav said that in its nearly four-year tenure, the SP government has fulfilled all promises it had made during the 2012 Assembly polls. “With the commissioning of the Anpara C and Anpara D plants, fresh power generation capacity has been created. Several lakh illegal connections have been regularised. Our government also exempted the lED bulb from VAT and so far  it has distributed over 50 lakh lED bulbs in UP,’’ said he.

Referring to the flagship schemes of his government, the CM said “It is the SP government which worked for the success of `digital India’ by distributing 2 million laptops to the students. Besides, the ‘Samajwadi Pension Yojna’ has directly benefitted the poor especially the women in the state.”

On the government’s future plans in the power and other sectors, Yadav said, “We are promoting power generation through solar plants with units being set up in several districts while work is underway at other places. Besides, the Metro rail in lucknow will be completed in record time.”

On unseasonal rains and now the drought causing immense losses to the farmers, Yadav reiterated, “The SP government has extended  financial  aid to the farmers worth several thousand crores, our repeated pleas to the Centre for aid unfortunately have elicited no response.’’

The CM claimed that no other state can match the efficiency and performance of the UP government vis a vis developmental works and welfare schemes. Yadav urged the people not to forget the works done by the Samajwadi Party. “You should elect the SP candidates in the 2017 Assembly polls. The next government can be formed by us only if the party candidates are retained by you,’’ said the CM.
