Both Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress leaders lambasted the Bharatiya Janta Party for ‘terrorising’ Opposition legislators forcing them to resign.

“After their undemocratic approach in Goa, Manipur, Bihar and Gujarat, now the power hungry BJP are terrorising Opposition legislators,” alleged BSP chief Mayawati reacting to resignation by a BSP MlC and two from SP on Saturday. “The BJP was using agencies like CBI, ED, Income Tax to terrorise and implicate Opposition leaders for vested political interests. The Centre was also conspiring against the non-BJP government in West Bengal and Odisha,” she said. Mayawati however questioned the MlCs who resigned from the Council saying that they took the wrong decision to bow to BJP pressure. “It would have been better if these MlCs fought against evil forces rather than surrendering before them,” she said.

Meanwhile, UP Congress general secretary and MlC Deepak Singh alleged that as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his other ministers could not get elected from any Assembly seat hence they were forcing Opposition members in the Council to resign. Singh said that the BJP government at the Centre as well as in UP indulged in all type of illegal ways to frame Opposition by misusing ED, CBI and other agencies.

“The resignation of three MlCs of SP and BSP proves that the BJP was doing every illegal and undemocratic things to target and terrorize Opposition members. The presence of BJP ministers during the submission fo the resignations by the Opposition MlCs only prove that they were being terrorised,” he alleged.
