The body of a 60-year-old man, identified as Raees Ahmad of Kasimpur police station area in Hardoi, was exhumed in the presence of circle officer and sub-divisional magistrate of Sandila on Saturday on the orders of the district administration.

The victim’s son, Sayyed, had lodged a complaint with the district magistrate of Hardoi claiming that his father was an oil grinder machine mechanic and former gram pradhan Afsar Hussain had come home and called his father asking him to set up an oil grinder machine on June 24. However, during the setting up of the machine, it fell on his father and he died. Later, the body was buried without a post-mortem examination.

It was alleged that Afsar Hussain, his brother Kausar and his son Kamil did nothing to stop the machine from falling on the victim and this resulted in his death. The police said that an autopsy would be conducted to find out the cause of death and action would be initiated accordingly.

On the basis of a complaint last week, the police registered a case under charges of causing death by negligence against Afsar Hussain, his brother Kausar and his son Kamil and a probe was started.
