Dissatisfied with ticket distribution for the forthcoming lok Sabha seats BJP workers laid a siege of party head quarters here demanding ticket for their favourites. The irked BJP workers raised slogans against the party leadership and sat on dharna. They also burnt the effigy of the party president Rajnath Singh.
BJP leader Ajay Agarwal, who was campaigning in Rae Bareli against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, sat on an indefinite dharna inside the party office saying he will not move until his name is cleared. "The party leadership is conspiring to bring an outsider in Rae Bareli", he said and even sent a memorandum to the party president Rajnath Singh.
Interestingly, a group of BJP workers descended on the headquarter seeking ticket for former Congress leader Jagdambika Pal. Hindu Yuva Vahini leader of Sidharthnagar district Ashok Srivastava supported Pal from Doomariaganj seat. He said that a strong one lakh voters of the Vahini will vote for Pal. The Vahini leaders issue was also supported by Bharat Nepal Maitri Sangh secretary Awadhesh Gupta.
But local BJP leader Ajay Pandey.has opposed any effort by the party to give Pal the lok Sabha ticket from Doomariaganj."How can a turncoat who has joined the party just a couple days ago could be given ticket by ignoring the dedicated workers who have sacrificed their entire life", asks Pandey.
Reports from Deoria say that party workers have also opposed candidature of Kalraj Mishra from there. Similar protests are reported from Allahabad where BJP leaders have come out in support of Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi. BJP has fielded Keshari Nath Tripathi from there.
Meanwhile BJP state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that the grievance of the leaders would be sorted out. "A team had been formed by the party to sort out the grievances," he said.
