Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Uttar Pradesh government was working to ensure security of women and it was committed to providing the best possible amenities to the fairer sex so that they could become self-reliant.
“The government has initiated proposals which are women-centric and aim at bringing women at par with men. This has been done to ensure that women develop the confidence that they can do anything and everything,” Yogi said while addressing a seminar on ‘Role of media, school and society in controlling violence against women’ here on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said that violence against women was a much talked about issue. He said that people who committed crime against women were perverted and lacked moral values.
“Family is the first school where a child gets the primary lessons of life. The child gets the seeds of ‘sanskar’ (values) from the family. If the seeds are strong, the person becomes educated and follower of law. If he/she becomes a good citizen, he/she contributes to the welfare of the state. This positivity spreads a good message across and helps in building a good society,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that media could play a positive role in highlighting violence against women.
“The Government of India has taken many steps for the welfare of women and they will help in making India strong,” he said.
Yogi also talked about the steps that the UP government had taken for the welfare of women, including starting of Women Helpline 181 and Women Powerline 1090.
“The government has also formed anti-Romeo squad to control crime against women,” he added.
