Sir — This refers to the article, “Indian diplomacy, Modi style” (September 4) by Mayuri Mukherjee. It aptly states that the 100 days assessment system is an American concept and that it is unfair to expect that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will script a quick turnaround like US President Franklin D Roosevelt.
Still, Mr Modi has secured a lot of international acclaim. His inauguration saw all South Asian leaders in attendance. During his visits to Bhutan, Nepal, Brazil and Japan, he earned enormous goodwill for India. In fact, his Japan visit has laid the foundation for huge foreign investment in infrastructure development in the next five years. Mr Modi gifting the Bhagvad Gita to the Japanese emperor is a fitting symbol of our civilisational links with the land of rising sun.
