Sir — This refers to the report, “After wedlock, PDP locks horns” (March 3). First, it was Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s controversial remark in which he credited militants, Pakistan and the Hurriyat leaders for the peaceful election in the State. This was followed by a statement of his MlAs who want the return of the mortal remains of terrorist Afzal Guru. These are very disturbing opinions for the Centre and the BJP.
The ideologies of the PDP and the BJP are completely different. But in the interest of giving a stable Government to the people of the State, the BJP has gone out of the way to accommodate the PDP. So, let us be positive about the end outcome as far as development is concerned, despite all that we have heard from the PDP. We need to give both the parties some time to come to a common ground of governance and draw a mid-line. It would be a pity if this historic alliance, stitched together with such care, is allowed to collapse.
