This refers to the report, “Miffed SC appoints lokayukta for UP” (December 17). The apex court’s decision is infallibly rational for cogent reasons. In a democracy, the post of a lokayukta is tangibly significant. Therefore, the apathy of the State Government, despite the Supreme Court’s perceptible directive in this regard, cannot be condoned.
Had the apex court not intervened unambiguously, the appointment would haven been delayed indefinitely and been a setback for people with grievances.
