Sir — This refers to the report, “Dismiss employees with fake caste certificates, says Centre” (June 16). Though the proposed move against those who got into the roll of ministries and departments on the basis of fake caste certificates, is absolutely necessary, this action alone cannot bring a concrete solution to the menace.
The stark reality that there is rampant corruption of varied dimensions and unjust intervention of influential people behind most of the recruitments in Government departments, cannot be wished away. The main reason for this situation is the lucrative remuneration and guaranteed benefits of Government employees. Hence, it is all the more necessary to reduce the remuneration gap between the Government and private sectors.
