All parties, including the BJP condemned Uttar Pradesh leader Dayashankar Singh’s disgusting remarks about Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati. This shows that Dalit leader Mayawati cannot be ignored anymore. While politicians of yore exercised restraint, at least publicly, leaders now seem to have cast off the pretension.
That said, of late, the Prime Minister is cultivating a sage-like detachment from everyday politics. It is difficult to anticipate what form of internal unrest will compel him to directly comment on political developments in the country.
