Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Clean up Bihar cesspool” (October 12). It is common for politicians to use uncouth language to mock their opponents. Through such undignified behaviour, they believe that they titillate the voters’ senses, create ripples in political waters, and also escape a debate on real issues concerning the masses. However, they fail to realise that cheap name-calling only reflects their regressive mindset and intellectual bankruptcy. Thanks to the Election Commission’s timely intervention, such buffoonery on public forums will be reined in. It is time for politicians to engage with their opponents in meaningful debates.
