Letter to the Editor

Eliminating violence

M Ratan

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Fighting terror unitedly” (November 17). In the backdrop of the terror attack in Paris, ugly voices of Islamic fascism and radical Islam’s violence against non-Muslims (non-believers) are being heard. Among the European countries, France, with the largest percentage of Muslim immigrants, mostly from its former colonies Algeria, Morocco, etc, is one of the biggest victimsof terrorism.

Strangely, there is hardly any reference to the real source of this dreadful violence: Several verses in the Quran talk of non-believers and non-Muslims. Most ruthless, brutal terrorist networks like the Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Hamas, laskhar-e-Tayyeba, Boko Haram, and now the Islamic State etc, are operating in the name of Islam and Allah.

It is no one’s case that all Muslims are terrorists; it will be a most foolish and foolhardy charge to level against the community. But it is a plain fact that most terrorist incidents taking place anywhere in the world, are the handiwork of Muslim militants.
