Letter to the Editor

Educate children

Ramesh G Jethwani

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “School-burning terror” (November 3). The burning of schools in Kashmir valley is shocking and must be condemned. It defies all logic since poor children study in these schools, and education prepares them for future employment. The construction of new schools requires a great amount of funds and time. But we have some militant elements bent on destroying the existing schools.

This calls for collective concern, collective condemnation, collective strategy by members of civil society and politicians across party lines who should sink their differences in bringing an end to this heinous crime of burning down schools.
