Sir — This refers to the article, “Capitulating on a very sensible commitment” (December 2) by Sandhya Jain. The writer deserves congratulations for highlighting the BJP’s pussyfooting on a matter of national importance — and that too to secure a highly uncertain decisive win in an Assembly election. The importance of the BJP winning or nearing a majority in the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly cannot be overestimated.
But the question is: Which BJPIJ A compassionate but clear-headed nationalist BJP, or a bunch of spineless opportunist traders in nationalist slogans, ready to forget nationalism for the sake of powerIJ If Prime Minister Narendra Modi also succumbs to the lure of power, and worse, respectability in secularist circles, it will be a tragedy.
