This refers to the report, “‘It’s fashion among farmers to commit suicide’” (February 19). It is atrocious that BJP MP Gopal Shetty has with such insensitivity said that farmer suicides have become a fashion. Mr Shetty’s insensitive remark on farmers’ plight is in contradiction to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s affirmation that the NDA Government’s first aim is to win the trust of the farmers.
