Continuing with its crackdown on drugs and rave parties in the State, the Goa Police on Tuesday arrested the owners of two high-profile beach shacks Curlies and Club Nyex near Anjuna beach for their connection to drug trade.

Edwin Nunes of Curlies shacks and Rohan Shetty of Club Nyex were arrested according to Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Chandan Choudhury after waiters as well as customers at the business establishment were found in possession of drugs.

“The arrests were conducted after some waiters and customers were found in possession of drugs,” Choudhury told reporters. The official said that apart from the cases filed against the customers and waiters found with drugs in their possession, the owner-duo had been booked under section 25 of the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The arrests are a part of a strict crackdown on drugs and rave parties in North Goa’s beach belt, considered to be the party circuit for the hundreds of thousands of tourists who flock to the State every year.

The crackdown started after two young holidayers from Kerala and Tamil Nadu died due to suspected drug overdose on Sunday after attending late musical events.
