Welcoming Government’s move asking Supreme Court to restore 42 acre of undisputed land at Ayodhya to the original owners, the BJP on Tuesday said that it was “very important” decision towards changing the status quo of 1994 and creating a better understanding of the Ayodhya issue.
Senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said the BJP-led Government wants the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya following the legal process. “The Government’s application in the court is also a part of this legal process..’, he said.
Addressing a press conference here, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also said that people want Rame temple and the Government would take steps after due legal process.
He said the BJP is confident that the Supreme Court would accept the application and restore 42 acre of the 67 acre undisputed land to the Ram Janambhoomi Nyas, the orginal owner of the land. Javadekar said this would have no impact on the .03 acre disputed land at Ayodhya where status quo would continue.
Attacking the Congress for its alleged ambivalent stand on the Ayodhya issue, he said the Opposition party was always seeking to delay the construction of the temple at Ayodhya by causing delay in the legal process.
The BJP leader said Congress does not believe in Ram or ‘Ram Setu’ and referred to the Congress affidavit in the court which he said the Opposition party had questioned the existence of “Ram Setu”.
