After maintaining relative calm along the line of control in Poonch sector Pak Army on Monday once again targeted forward Indian posts in the Poonch sector and violated ceasefire agreement, second time in the last four days.
On May 24 Pakistani troops had violated ceasefire agreement in Nowgam sector of Baramulla in Kashmir injuring a Brigadier rank officer and two other jawans.
According to officiating Defence PRO SN Acharaya in Jammu, “ Pak army targeted forward Indian posts around 7.10 a.m and fired 25 rounds of PIKA rifles and five Rocket Projectile grenades”.
He said it is a clear case of ceasefire violation as the Pak army opened ‘unprovoked’ firing on the Indian posts.
He said the Indian troops exercised restraint and did not retaliate. He confirmed there was no loss of life or damage to the forward posts on the Indian side of the line of control. Meanwhile, the Indian army has already stepped up its vigil along the line of control amid reports of possible infiltration bids from across the fence.
