Assam BJP on Tuesday demanded Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to make public the intelligence

report which suggested that the RSS and BJP were trying to create ‘unsavory situation’ during the Gandhi’s visit to the Barpeta Satra.

A controversy erupted after the AICC leader visited Barpeta on Saturday and headed straight to a roadshow and public rally without entering the Satra, a Vaishnavite socio-cultural centre. later Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi while quoting a intelligence report claimed that Rahul Gandhi did not enter the Satra as some RSS workers have opposed Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the Satra. On Monday, Rahul Gandhi told media in New Delhi that some RSS workers stopped him from entering the Satra.

“Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi should make public the intelligence report that suggested that RSS workers were trying to create problem during the Rahul Gandhi’s visit. The Congress leaders are telling lies after lies to cover up one lie of the AICC vice-president. Nobody will be allowed to do political blackmailing,” said Assam BJP leader and former Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing the newsmen here on Tuesday.

Sarma had on Monday circulated to media audio and video footage, making it clear that Rahul Gandhi’s decision not to enter the Satra was a conscious decision and that he was not stopped by any RSS workers in the Satra.

“Rahul Gandhi had not even gone to the main gate of the Satra. He was standing about 30 meters away from the main gate of the Satra. So how come someone stop him from entering the SatraIJ It is a deliberate attempt to defame the Assam and the people of Assam,” said Sarma while daring Rahul to prove his allegation with video footage or apologise to the people of Assam.

“Several Congress and workers were standing near the main gate of the Satra on Saturday and were seen in the video footage clapping when some women were singing Naam (prayer) there. They were all waiting for Rahul Gandhi’s visit. If there were RSS workers, how come the Congress leaders were clapping with themIJ” said Sarma.

Sarma also condemned the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for demeaning the dignity of the Chief Minister’s chair by making casual comments on different occasion and at different times.
