Breaking his long silence, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal on Friday sent out a message to his party that it has to give a good Government in Delhi and change the system. Fighting dissent in his party, Kejriwal said, "…now we have to move forward from here, and if we present Delhi as a model then I feel that it will give rise to a new kind of politics in this country and in this world."
Speaking at an informal cultural meet at the Jindal Nature Cure Institute in the outskirts of Bengaluru where he is undergoing treatment for persistent cough and diabetes, Kejriwal urged his party to change the system and bring about good governance in Delhi. "If Delhi changes, I have a feeling the whole world will change", he added.
Referring to the growing discord in his party, the AAP leader said, "I strongly fight on this issue within the party. Everyone says now that we have won Delhi we will win others as well. Are we a Napoleon on the victory marchIJ, he asked.
Kejriwal's message is seen as a clear message to his party members to concentrate on Delhi and its affairs. The simmering rift flared up with AAP's founding members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan being ousted from the party's Political Affairs Committee. Kejriwal has also come under fire in public from Yadav and Bhushan who have accused him of taking "unilateral" decisions.
The 46 year old leader's health has improved considerably during his ten day stay at the Nature Cure Institute, hospital doctors said.
Dr Babina Nandakumar, Chief Medical Officer said his sugar levels and his cough was under control and he would be discharged on the 16th of March. EOM/BlR
