Just the day after the drama of the BJP admitting Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik and disowning him within a few hours, the Mangalore Congress unit in Karnataka admitted a close associate of Pramod Muthalik and just few hours later after mounting criticism disowned Dinakara Shetty, 28th accused in the infamous and notorious Mangalore pub attack case of 2009.

Dinakara Shetty was part of the moral policing gang and a right-hand man of Muthalik. He was a legal adviser in Sri Ram Sena, and wanted to join the Congress in the presence of senior Congress leader Oscar Fernades. However on Monday, the Congress unit admitted him and after severe criticism he was shunted from the party.

Dinakara Shetty, the 28th accused in the case, was among the many from different parties and other individual groups, who joined the Congress in Mangalore. But hours later, the district Congress president in-charge Kodicchal Ibrahim issued a statement, citing “some confusion” and said that he had not been admitted in the party.
