In a bid to step up rescue drive, Chhattisgarh’s BJP Government said it would be sending a 12-seater hired chopper to Dehradun, to rescue people who are stranded and trapped in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand.

“The chopper will begin an intensified rescue drive in the flood and landslide-hit Uttarakhand right from 7.30 am from Friday onwards,’’ a top government official informed, adding, “the decision to deploy chopper in Uttarakhand was taken on special initiatives of Chief Minister Raman Singh,’’.

The official said that Uttarakhand Government has agreed to allow Chhattisgarh Government to use its own helicopter for rescue operation. 120 people who are stranded in Badrinath will be evacuated by the Government’s chopper.
