Tamil Nadu BJP leaders took strong exception to anti-Hindu and anti-Narendra Modi speech delivered by Veera Pandian, an anchor of Sun TV, a TV channel owned by DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran and his family.
“BJP spokespersons and representatives would not share the dais or participate in talk shows to be compered by Veera Pandian because of the inflammatory speech delivered by him in a public meeting convened by the SDPI, an Islamic extremist outfit,” Pon Radhakrishnan, president, Tamil Nadu BJP told The Pioneer.
He said ever since the Tiruchirapalli rally in September 2013 addressed by Narendra Modi, people like Veera Pandi has intensified their attack on the BJP as well as Modi. “In the SDPI meeting, Veera Pandian exhorted the Muslims and Christians in the country to sink their differences to finish off the threat posed by Narendra Modi,” said a visibly upset Radhakrishnan. He said the BJP does not mind people criticising the party or the BJP. “But it should not be by delivering inflammatory speeches and blatant lies against our party leaders,” said Radhakrishnan.
The BJP leader said a delegation of party spokespersons would call on Kalanidhi Maran, the Sun Network chief to express their resentment against the speeches being delivered by Veera Pandian. “Though Pandian is not someone worth taking note of, he continues to address meetings of extremist outfits asking them to physically finish off our leader. This is highly objectionable. One of the Islamic organisation had the audacity to post the video of Pandian’s speech in the public domain though it was removed subsequently following better sense,” said Radhakrishnan.
