In reference to the Grapevine titled “PS vs EDPGMR” published on Monday, the Railway Ministry has clarified that Amitabh Prasad has joined as Private Secretary (PS) to Union Minister Piyush Goyal in the capacity as PS to Minister of Coal, a portfolio held with Goyal alongwith Railways. Prasad continues to work in that capacity and has not been repatriated as mentioned in the report. Dr Praveen N Gedam, IAS, has recently joined as PS to Piyush Goyal in capacity as PS Minister of Railways (MR). “The Ministry said that the appointments of both the PSs are within the prescribed rules. The various officers including PS or EDPG/MR in the personal staff of the Union Minister have a defined role and they perform in their respected jurisdiction/domain as per the directions of the Union Minister,” says a Railway Ministry statement.
