EC meet with parties over dole on Aug 12
New Delhi: The Election Commission will hold a meeting of various political parties on August 12 for framing guidelines on ‘freebies’ in election manifestos following directions of the Supreme Court. The guidelines are being framed in view of the recent apex court order which says there is no enactment that directly governs the contents of the election manifesto. The EC has sought the opinion of various political parties on the matter before making rules on allurements in election manifestos.

Newsletter of National Archives launched
New Delhi: The quarterly newsletter of the National Archives of India entitled e-Abhilekh was launched on Thursday by Ravindra Singh, Secretary, Culture Ministry. The news bulletin has been planned with the objective of disseminating information for the development of the Archives with the inaugural issue for April-June 2013 highlighting International Archives Day and International Archival Organisations.
IMO medal for Indian team of six members
New Delhi: A six member team of students picked up from across the country schools has bagged two silver and three bronze medals at the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2013 held at Santa Marta, Colombia during July 18-28. A total of 528 students from 97 countries participated in the prestigious world event. The silver medal winners are: Sangik Saha (Kolkata West Bengal) and Shubham Sinha (New Delhi), while the Bronze medal winners are Pallav Goyal (Chattisgarh), Pranab Nuti (Hyderabad-Andhra Pradesh) and Anish Prasad Sevekari (Pune-Maharashtra). The team was sponsored by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), an Institution under the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai.
