SR

Moving alongside the other colleges of University of Delhi, minority institutions — the prestigious St Stephen’s College and Jesus and Mary College (JMC) — will also begin their admission processes on Monday. However, both the colleges will be issuing their forms online only. While

St Stephen’s had released its dates for admissions long back, Jesus and Mary College only recently uploaded their data online. Most guidelines of JMC match those of the Delhi University. As per the criterion posted online, admissions to JMC will be on merit and on basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the applicants in Class XII.

Aggregate marks will be calculated on the basis of best four academic subjects including English. In case, a candidate has not studied three academic subjects then a disadvantage of 10 per cent of the maximum marks may be levied on each of the non academic subjects to be included for the calculation of ‘best of four’ percentage.  Separate eligibility criteria have also been set for different departments. For the Department of Commerce, students of Commerce will have an upper hand and so will those who have studied Math in Class XII. One per cent will be added for students who have studied Mathematics in Class XII, while a disadvantage of two per cent will be for students of Science and Humanities stream. However, students from Science and Humanities stream will gain one per cent each for having studied Accounts, Business Studies or Economics in the last qualifying examination.

For students who opt for Economics Honours, Mathematics will be a compulsory subject. However, students who have not studied Economics in Class XII but meet the eligibility criteria will have a disadvantage of two per cent. For all other courses the guidelines are on the website. The form along with the prospectus of the college will be available from today on the college website. An applicant can fill only one form in which only three preferences can be marked. Students who fill more than one form will be disqualified even at a later stage. The cut off lists of the selected candidates will be put up on the college website and notice board as per the Delhi University schedule.
