The Delhi Police have finally registered a case of rape and intimidation against BSP MP Dhananjay Singh on Wednesday four years later.

A 42-year-old woman Government employee once again approached Pandav Nagar police statio n to lodge her complaint against Singh, currently serving time with wife Dr Jagriti Singh in connection with the murder of a domestic help.

Police said as per the allegation of the accused, the BSP leader had been sexually exploiting her since 2005.

The woman, a railway employee, had earlier approached police in 2009 but no action was taken. She had alleged that Singh raped her on several occasions  at gunpoint.

Sources said police did not register her complaint in 2009 because of Singh’s political influence.

The husband of the complainant is a businessman based in Gorakhpur.

He frequently visits her. She stays in Delhi because of her employment.

In her complaint, she stated that she was introduced to Dhananjay in February 2005 when her husband had invited him over for lunch.

“Dhananjay started visiting her regularly at her residence in Mayur Vihar. In July 2005, he raped her at gunpoint and threatened to kill her children if she fobbed off his advances. The MP continued raping her till 2009 until he married Jagriti after becoming an MP,” a police official said. The recent arrest of the MP with regard to the domestic help homicide gave courage to the woman to approach police again.
