BJP to hold demonstrations during Assembly session

The Delhi BJP on Sunday announced to hold demonstrations throughout the upcoming Assembly session in a bid to “put pressure” on the AAP Government to table the Fourth Finance Commission report, introduce lokpal Bill in the Vidhan Sabha and on the issue of extortion case on AAP MlA SK Bagga.

Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay said it is quite surprising that the Arvind Kejriwal Government which came to power on the promise of “Swaraj-lokpal” to the people of Delhi is now avoiding lokpal and trying to stall the report of Fourth Finance Commission to paralyse the Municipal Corporations which are the symbols of Swaraj.

“According to the recommendation of Fourth Finance Commission 14 per cent of the total revenue of the Delhi Government should be given to the Municipal Corporation but Kejriwal used to talk about the Swaraj in which 20 per cent of the revenue was to be paid to the Municipal Corporations,” said Upadhyay.

On the extortion case on Krishna Nagar MlA SK Bagga, the BJP demanded a time bound investigation of the matter regarding sting operation extorting lakhs of rupees from Raju Sachdeva, their own party worker for getting him ticket for Municipal Corporation election, through Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi Government.

“If after investigation, the MlA is found guilty, legal action should be taken for termination,” said leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta.

“Our legislative party may be small but our morale is very high and on the one hand the BJP workers shall be demonstrating outside the Assembly and on the other hand the BJP legislators shall be pressurising the Government for passing lokpal Bill and presenting the recommendations of the Fourth Finance Commission in the house,” said Gupta.

Upadhyay said in order to increase its economic resources the Government in Delhi has made all the possible efforts.

“After coming to power the Kejriwal Government increased VAT on petrol but in the year 2015, it wants to provide the budget allocations to the Municipal Corporations on the basis of norms fixed in the year 2007. During the last eight months the Delhi Government has not increased the budget allocation to the Municipal Corporations and only jugglery of statics is played in the name of budget support to the Corporations,” he added.
