A 41-year-old Delhi Police constable posted at the disaster management department in Outer district’s Prashant Vihar committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his office on Monday. No suicide note was recovered but police said the deceased, identified as Binod, was troubled due to some family problem.

According to a senior police official, Binod had left his house on Monday around 7.30 am in his uniform for his office.

“After the constable reached his office, he tied a rope from the ceiling fan and hanged himself. After a while when Binod’s friend reached his office for some work, found Binod hanging from the fan,” said the official.

He immediately called the PCR and some policemen reached the spot and rushed Binod to the nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.

“Binod’s family was immediately informed and his body was sent for post-mortem. An inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC was initiated,” said the official.

“We are investigating the matter from all angles and are also questioning his relatives, family and people living in his locality to get the clear image,” said the official.
