Two-day annual student cultural festival Uurja-2014 of UPES concluded on Sunday.
Dr. Shrihari, Campus Director, inaugurated the Event. Events were divided in to social and cultural categories. 80 students from 14 other institutions participated.
Uurja 14 was dedicated to two of the burning challenges faced by the student fraternity- substance abuse and road traffic accidents. “Abhinay”, the program based on these social paradoxes, moved the packed audiences and made them introspect. Performances were really master class.
There were other very popular events like Footlose, Mr. and Ms. Uurja and War of Bands etc. Climax of the festival came about after the performance of famous rock band “ASTITVA” from Delhi.
It was a grand finale, where 6000 wildly cheering students danced to frenzy, yet remained remarkably disciplined.
Director of Student Affairs Brig Dr Anil Sharma congratulated the students, organisers, discipline and security Committee for the flawless success.
Organisers were led by Manish Madaan, Dr Shalni Vohra, Dr. Saroj Bhora, Praveen Jadhav, Anant Misra and Student Convenor Apoorva Agarwal.
Pillars of discipline committee were Anshu Paliwal, Ashutosh Dora, Dr. PSVS Sridhar, Dr RK Tripathi, Prof. Sambabu KC, Prof. Neeraj Kataria and Dr. Gagan Anand and student DC heads Anuj Bedi and Gaurav Yadu.
Winners of the flagship events were: Abhinay – Anshuman Preenza; Footlose – Xhileration; Mr. and Ms. Uurja Prateek Aggarwal and Tanya Agarwal; War of Bands – Forbidden Ritual (Graphic Era).
