Demanding release of advertisement for appointments to the vacant posts in the Education department, dozens of Uttarakhand BEd (TET) Trained Federation members continued their protest at Education directorate for the second day on Tuesday. The protesters warned that they will lock the gate of education directorate on Wednesday unless their demand is met.
Dozens of protesters assembled at Education directorate and shouted anti-government slogans. The association president Baldev Singh said that as per National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines, for BEd (TET) candidates, March 31, 2014, is the last date for submitting application for the posts of teacher in the education department. The association is being supported by around 40, 000 unemployed TET qualified youth of the State. “We had submitted several memorandums to Education Minister and school education director but the authorities have remained apathetic. If we are not recruited before March 31, this year, our future will be dark,” he added.
Association member Manveer Singh Rawat alleged that Government is playing with the future of the youth of the State by not appointing them to various departments even though, large number of posts are vacant there. “We have been protesting in support of one-point demand for the last several months but our demand has not been addressed by the Government. We will intensify protest across the State if Government fails to address our demand soon," he added.
