Former Students Union president, PG College, Mohan Singh Rawat broke his seven-day-old fast on Monday after State Minister Harak Singh Rawat assured him that his demand for improving health services in the district hospital Bauradi in Tehri district would be looked into at the earliest. The PG College students have been staging a stir in the district hospital premises since January 15, demanding filling of posts of surgeon, radiologist, physician and ENT surgeon among others, setting up a Blood Bank and provision for ultrasound and other diagnostic facilities in the district hospital.

They had threatened to intensify their agitation and close the markets if the State Government did not pay heed to their demands. They were supported by a large section of  the local people. Harak Singh Rawat, who is the minister in-charge of Tehri district, met the agitating students on Monday and assured them that their demands would be looked into on a priority basis, following which the students withdrew their stir.
