The city bus association has alleged gross irregularities in changes in permits of 450 Vikrams of State capital which allows these vehicles to carry seven passengers from earlier six. The department had recently converted the permits of these vehicles from 6+1 (six passengers and one driver) to 7+1 following which it had paved the way for their conversion from contract carriage to stage carriage. The President of association Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that he had filed a Right to Information (RTI) application in which he had asked the department as to under which rules it had allowed the conversion and if it has done so does it means that these vehicles are now maxi cabs from motor cabs. It is pertinent to mention here that the three wheelers like tempo and vikrams fall in the category of motor cabs under motor vehicles act while motor cabs are vehicles with four wheels. Dandariyal said the information provided by the department to him is frivolous and alleged conspiracy of the department officials to give permit of stage carriage to the contract carriage vehicles against all norms and in violation of order of High Court.
